❝ Oh, that’s hilarious. I thought you guys had united against me, but I guess there was still someone among you who felt otherwise! ❞ | ||||
Abilities. × Flexibility: Mikado loves to dance, so he's quite flexible and graceful. × For half a year, all was well and the game was gaining steam as more and more people joined. However, an accident occurred, involving Jade, Tiro and another player which took Jade’s life. The group was devastated, and Melvin, Prince and Alexa dropped out of the Snatch Games, leaving Tiro, Mikado, Julien, Alexa and Sharon to form the Star Five. However Jade’s sister Lilian and Mikado, whose crush had grown into love, took Jade’s death especially hard. Lilian became obsessed with revenge for her sister’s death, whereas Mikado appeared to get over it after a while. However, he had internalized his grief which twisted his reasoning and caused him to blame Tiro for Jade’s death. He hid his feelings, biding his time for the perfect moment to act against Tiro. × That moment came in the form of a Nonary Game. One day, Tiro suggested they punish and try to reform some of the rulebreakers of the Snatch Games in some way. He came up with an elaborate game that would allow him and the others to safely reform the rulebreakers while placing stress, fear and anxiety upon said rulebreakers as a form of punishment. For the first couple of games, Mikado and the others put themselves in as participants so they could directly speak with the rulebreakers. × Then, it was Tiro’s turn to enter the game. Mikado saw the opportunity and filled the game with many deadly weapons in hopes that another participant would attempt to kill Tiro when he secretly took control over the mic and revealed to the group that Tiro planned the game. But much to his dismay, Tiro’s natural charisma made him fast friends with a majority of the group, making it almost impossible that he would die by a game participant’s hand. Mikado decided to take the situation into his own hands, first by sneaking into the facility and redistributing the weapons a participant had concealed and then planting a bomb in the one room Tiro had to enter. He then returned and waited. Tiro, wary of Mikado at this point, chose to enter his room alone, a decision that costed him his life. × Mikado was ecstatic his plan worked, but he also learned of who the third person involved in the accident was, leading him attack Prince and Julien, beginning a struggle for control over the facility’s functions. Mikado managed to come out of the struggle victorious, but Prince, before getting knocked out, severely scrambled the controls to the facility, making it difficult for Mikado to set off the bracelet of the player that had been involved in the accident that killed Jade. As he attempted to figure out the controls for the bracelets, he accidentally tripped Lilian’s [one of the game’s participants] bracelet, killing her. Mikado was shocked and upset, and in his grief he set off the rest of the bracelets, killing all but one player, who’d had their bracelet removed during the course of the game. He then ran off, escaping confrontation by Melvin, Alexa and Sharon, unaware of the last living player in the facility. × He spent the next two-three years in hiding from his former friends. Then, news came that everyone else had been killed by the Empress, who was now the new star ranked player along with the rest of the Chess Masters. Mikado was shocked and upset. He’d only hated Tiro, and never intended for his friends to get hurt as a result of his actions. This, coupled with his growing regret for what happened that fateful Nonary game threw him into a deep depression, and he spent years cycling in and out of depression. On one such ordinary day of hiding in the fifth year, he was unexpectedly ambushed by someone masked head to toe in black cloth and a mask, and knocked out. × Mikado is a pretty complex individual. Before Jade’s death, he was cheerful, a typical teenage boy who joked with friends, had his hobbies and passions, and loved being with his friends. Mikado enjoys dancing, in particular hip hop, but he has taken the time to study other types of dance such as tango. He would get excited when making a new sequence or performing a move correctly, much to the others’ amusement. He would often get embarrassed by their jibes at him and tended to hotly defend his passion for dance. × Mikado and Tiro were very close friends, joking with each other often, competing [along with Jade] in games, and were pretty much glued at the hip. Around Jade, Mikado often fidgeted and avoided eye contact and occasionally blushed when in close proximity with her. With the others, he was very amicable and friendly, and also joked and had fun with them, though not to the degree of closeness he and Tiro shared. × Mikado’s personality suffered a radical change once Jade died. He became more withdrawn, quiet, and the distance between him and Tiro grew. It was likely that, due to Mikado being so close to Tiro and Jade both, he was extremely upset and confused, but did not tell anyone about his feelings. It probably resulted in him at first thinking it was not at all Tiro’ fault that Jade died, but as he continued brooding on the subject, his thoughts became questions. What if Tiro did this? What if Tiro did that? Why didn’t Tiro do this? And slowly, he began to blame Tiro and felt betrayed by Tiro. × From there, he withdrew more and more from the group, which lasted for almost a year before the group confronted him and “got everything out into the open”. At that point, Mikado resumed his previous behaviour before Jade’s death, albeit more subdued. He was, however, more prone to sinking into his thoughts when not being spoken to. The group thought that had been the effect of Jade’s death, and accepted it. However, Mikado had not released his feelings of blame on Tiro, and his behaviour was somewhat of a facade to placate everyone. × After Tiro and the King’s deaths, Mikado’s personality did a 180. While he was in solitude, due to hiding from his former friends, he felt free, accomplished, and joyous. But that joyous rush lasted for at most a month. Slowly, an empty void began to feel his heart. He started suffering from nightmares about Tiro and Jade and took to avoiding sleep. Much to his horror, he found that his passion for dance was slipping away, and even worse, he couldn’t bring himself to care enough. × It took a lot of effort for him to continue moving from place to place to hide himself from the others, and there were days where he felt like he didn’t care anymore. After about two-three years of this, in a sudden burst of motivation, he forced himself to get a somewhat normal life, which was possible only because the others had decreased their searching for him. He took up a job as shopkeeper of a simple coffee shop, made friends, and regained a bit of his vigour, though he was still haunted by nightmares. × In truth, Mikado’s tired of hiding and running, and filled with guilt and regret for his actions. Though it was the Empress that killed the rest of his friends, he blames himself for being the trigger to crack a hole in their defense and allow the Chess Masters to kill them. He always asks himself how things would have turned out had he not done what he did. Because of his depression, he doesn’t usually have the energy to turn himself him, but he wants to, to try to atone for his mistakes. × In summary, Mikado suffers from clinical depression and has had multiple episodes. Currently, he’s in a recovery phase where he is mostly back to being properly energetic like a normal human, so he is alert when he should be and active in making and executing plans. He tries his best to keep himself busy, as he’s found that allowing himself time to think usually causes him to feel upset, depressed and lethargic, especially concerning the topics of his friends. He tries his best to remain courteous and amiable to strangers, and displays a shadow of his old personality with people he now calls his friends. However, he avoids anything and everything that reminds him of Tiro, especially the colour red and anyone who shares his pep and charisma. × Jade Wintertale - Mikado's love. Player 3, Terza.
